The Music of Manos Loïzos
Saturday, May 9, 2026, 7p, in Chiotes Hall
Join us for an unforgettable evening dedicated to one of Greece’s most beloved composers and songwriters, whose music has left an indelible mark on modern Greek culture. Born in Alexandria, Egypt, and later moving to Athens, he became a central figure in the wave of composers who combined folk traditions with contemporary sounds. His songs often carried themes of love, struggle, and social justice, resonating deeply with everyday people. Loïzos collaborated with many of Greece’s greatest poets and lyricists, creating music that was both artistic and accessible, weaving poetry into melody with unforgettable simplicity. The evening will feature the Cathedral’s Greek Band, headlined by bouzouki player Kostas Psarros, with singers from the choir and community.
